▪ Distraction: Utilize creative options to distract the people involved to de-escalate the situation. This may involve humor or appealing to other interests of the people involved. Try telling the person you need to talk him.
▪ Be with others: Get other people involved to help the person in trouble, and to gather strength in numbers.
▪ Split: Step in and separate the two people. Voice your concerns. Let them know you're acting in their best interest.
▪ Friends: Find the person's friends and get them to intervene.

- Call for authorities, such as the party hosts, the security guards, or 911
- Ask if the victim of the unwanted sexual advance or attention is okay, if they need medical care, if they want to speak to a victim advocate, or if they have someone that can get them safely home
- Turning on the lights or suddenly turning off the music
- Suggesting to a bartender or party host that someone has had too much to drink
- Make up an excuse to help get the person away from a potentially dangerous person or situation
- Pointing out someone's disrespectful behavior in a safe and respectful manner
- Accidentally spilling a drink on the potential offender
- Never leave the potential victim's side, despite any efforts to have the victim isolated
